Can you volunteer your time?
Your local Mencap is a charity run entirely by unpaid volunteers, supporting a large number of local community members and their families with practical help in dealing with learning difficulties. The overheads of such an operation are huge, and we constantly seek the support of the wider local community in funding this work.
Please see Facebook page for a number of events we host. All these events enable us to fund activities for the community we support, so please come along and enjoy a tea or coffee with us and chat with our volunteers.
If you can spare some time and volunteer, please get in touch and we will love to hear how you can help.
The building in which we provide the support services (Riverside Hall) is very old, and its history is interesting as it was formerly the local Mission to Seamen. As you can imagine, just to keep the building in a good state of repair, and also to provide all the equipment we need to help those with disabilities, we need constantly to raise funds. National Mencap, based in London, does not provide any financial support to any of the Local Mencap groups, and we all have to be self-financing.
Please help in any way you can. Any donation to our funds would be thankfully received, and would make such a difference to those that we look after.
To make a donation, please make your cheque payable to “Newhaven & District Mencap” and forward it to:
